P-EBT PROGRAM: Benefits Extended to Eligible Families

(Haga clic aquí para español)

North Carolina announced it will continue to provide additional benefits through the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program to help families purchase food for children whose access to free and reduced-priced meals at school has been impacted by virtual learning for the 2020 to 2021 school year due to COVID-19.

Families do not need to apply for P-EBT. A school-aged child is eligible for the P-EBT program if their school is eligible to provide free or reduce-priced meals at school this year, and the child was eligible to receive free or reduced-priced meals during the 2020-2021 school year. (This includes Brunswick County Schools)

The program provides a benefit on an Electronic Benefit (EBT) card. An EBT card acts like a credit card and can be used to buy food at authorized food and grocery retailers, including most major grocery stores. Benefits received in February 2021 will be for the months of August to December 2020 for those students who are eligible.

If your child is eligible and you already have an EBT card, the benefits will be loaded on your existing card. If your child is eligible and you do not currently have an EBT card, a card will be mailed to the address you have provided to the school.

If you need your card to be mailed to a different address, please contact the EBT call center at 1-866-719-0141.

New Curbside Student Meal Pickup Process: (Student Meal Pickup Instructions in Spanish)

The current curbside student Summer Meal Program will change starting September 21st when the students are back in school.

FULL SEMESTER 100% REMOTE LEARNING: Starting September 21st, parents and guardians will be able to pick up the Distance Learning Meals at no cost.

Orders will be for a 5 day frozen meal package to be picked up once a week for the next  12 weeks.  The deadline to pre order was September 16th. If you would still like to register, you will have to register onsite.

When you arrive to pick up your first meal order, you will be given a "Distance Learning Meal Card".  You will present this card as parent verification each time you pickup meals.

If you have been given permission to assist a parent in meal pickup, you must provide a written document or email with parent's name, child's name, phone number and signature verifying that it is okay for you to pick up meals. Only one meal package per child per week.  Childcare centers should not be receiving meal assistance from any other federally funded programs if they are picking up meals at the High Schools.

A/B ALTERNATING DAY STUDENTS: Students enrolled in the A/B Alternating Day Schedule will automatically receive 3 days worth of frozen meals from their school to take home with them for the days they are not in school.

This will allow each student to receive one breakfast and one lunch per day for the 5 day school week.
